Paint Chips

Usually people use these things for selecting paint colors for their home, or a few pieces of furniture. And thanks to Pinterest, a whole slew of crafts can now be imagined or reimagined with them.

A mixture of both is the reason I have so many. But tonight they served an even greater purpose. You see it's late here in the southern mid-west, and my LittleMiss was put to bed early so that she would stop being a cranky monster. Unfortunately my neighbor decided they wanted to do some yard work as the sun was setting, which did nothing to help the recently put to bed little baby or my sinus head ache. This absolutely did not help my already foul mood.

Have you figured out how this story ends?

No? Okay, I'll fill you in.

LittleMiss and I shared some almond-yogurt with fruit, finding ways to wear her out and make a few memories. One of our biggest accomplishments this month is walking, we're up to oh-gosh about 10steps before she falls on her bottom. I cheer her on with each boom, uh-oh, and owie. Amidst our living room tickles, adventures and giggles she found the paint chips mommy had had neatly packed away.

Slowly she pulled a few out and put them away, sort of.
Then I pulled a few more out to show her the colors, and she put them where they had previously been. trying to coax her into having fun, I started spreading them out.

"Mom, mom what are you doing? You're making a mess."

Then I started getting a few giggles when I tossed them in the air. I wasn't getting the desired messy effect, so I started "makin' it rain".

That opened the flood gate of giggles.
So more of a mess had to be made, more colors explored.
I handed her a few cards and let her throw them. While it was indeed a dangerous act and I am surprised I survived with no battle wounds she had fun.

I coaxed her into crawling into my lap so that she could have more of a throwing range. A bit more dangerous for me, yet it gave me a beautiful closeness and a chance to take her hands to show the funnest way of dispersing the paint chips.

My Paint Chip Princess.

Even though my neighbor originally {unintentionally} put me in a particularly furthered bad mood, my night ended well. It made me feel like a more accomplished mommy, spending time with LittleMiss, making her laugh with {I would like to think} a little bit of learning.

Yes there is a mess to clean, but it's the best mess I've had to clean yet.

We should go {on an Adventure}

Maybe one day, in a few years when LittleMiss is a bit older, it will actually be possible.

A road trip, through a few states or a trip to another country. It's all possible, just not now. I can only imagine just how exciting and fun-filled it will be.

But for now our adventures involve museums, zoos, parks, lakes and water parks.

And random antique/repurposed/thrift shops

And oh what fun adventures we have.

"It started off with a trip to see GanGan at her new job and pick up the stroller(that almost crushed mommies foot).
It was fun seeing GanGan, she made me smile and I liked my apple slice.

Then we went to mommys work and had lunch. It was really tasty. A really nice man brought me some yogurt smoothie, saying it was a gift from the kitchen. Mommy mixed it with my pee and it tasted delicious.

Because it was so nice outside we didn't look at a lot of the art. Instead we went out for a walk around the gardens and other museum, only to get slightly side tracked by a vintage store.
It was fun, the people were really nice and made me laugh when they made faces.

We had fun on our walk. Buy there were so many other people on the trails too!! It was hard to take my nap with all the commotion. My feet were fun to look at, my spoon and mommys keys were fun to play with.

Mommy took us for a quick walk through of a few more boutiques. It was really nice to see my stroller and diaper bag where mommy left it when it wouldn't fit inside the stores.

Then we went to the fountain!!
It was so pretty!!
Mommy an I had a good time sitting and looking at the fountain, but she wouldn't let me reach the water.
You can bet I kept trying.

I may have started rubbing my eyes, so mommy thought I was tired and we headed home.

I also may have fallen asleep in the car...

It was just so comfy and nice outside. And I was worn out from all the fun and my playing with my favorite you: an empty cup.

It was a fun adventure day with my mommy."

Really hope y'all caught on to this mostly being written by LittleMiss...

The Bloggy Mom Bloggy Dare

I'm sure you've noticed the new button in the top left hand corner <<<

I've decided to follow a Blogging Dare! Where you publish a post everyday of the year! Yes it is not easy for me at all. But what really doesn't help is that when I make a post from my phone, my phone won't always publish. I'm going to try to keep a better eye on that, but please be patient with me! Some days I will follow a prompt, or some days I'll follow what I want to write :)

If you're curious or interested head over and check it out!

Modesty?

Now that I am a mother, I really understand and appreciate the idea of modesty.
Jessica Rey did a fantastic job with this presentation. My wardrobe has slowly become more and more modest, but I hadn't yet thought of summer and swimsuits. Really not wearing a bikini hadn't crossed my mind, after all I am proud of my post baby body. Maybe throw some shorts on. I obviously have had no issues with being rather un-modest, even knowing that what I wore would cause men to lust and view me as an object.

 But that's not me anymore.
I prefer being modest. I have even had several men tell me how refreshing it is to see a woman showing modesty instead of skin. In a way it's really like showing that you respect yourself. That you know that you're not a piece of meat, not a 'tool'.

I love this dress. It's not only beautiful with its lace, pearls and bow, but it's modest. While you can't see the hemline, it does come just above my knees.

Or this beautiful dress:
(you'll see this in another post soon)

What is so fantastic is that in todays fashion, you can be modest and still look adorable and attractive. Look at what Jessica is wearing in her video! fantastic! I am so thankful that I have been able to find several retailors who are starting to make more modest clothes.

Yellow Sleeveless Dress

This dress is adorable and surprisingly short, but it would be so cute with a layered lace slip!

CHEVRON BELT DRESS – BLACK/TAUPE
(from Hannah Jane Boutique)

This is great because it also comes in blue!

Better yet look at these absolutely adorable swimsuits from Rey Swimwear!! I love all of these!! I am definitely saving up for one...or two...

caroline in creamsicle

I am truly hoping that womens modesty starts to make a reappearance. It would be great to encourage little girls to use their brains and not their bodies. And to show little boys and men that women are gorgeous while being covered, that we do still deserve respect.

Whats your take on modesty? Any thoughts on changing your style just a little?

Fun way to start off a Saturday

Being a baker I wake up anywhere from 330AM to 4AM. I haven't had a day off in a little while so I asked Kunkle if he could work my shift this morning so that I could catch some sleep and do some organizing. Well I arrived at my mothers just before seven and passed out on the couch with in 20minutes.
As in I was gone. Sitting up.  When henny started crying because she was hungry I woke up with a little crick in my neck.
For those of you with-out children you will  learn that when a wee one falls asleep in the car seat, you leave them asleep in the car seat. Well I mean you bring the car seat inside but still.
The thought of going down stairs and getting in to an actual bed fluttered through my mind, so did the fact that it's much colder down there. LittleMiss and I fell back asleep on the couch until five o'clock when my hip started to hurt. Not to mentions body was all "why we sleepin' yo?! Why aren't we bakeing?!" Trying to convince my body that I could sleep an extra two hours, I had the brilliant idea that maybe my bed coud seal the deal and I would find myself in snooze-ville in no time.
Until the unthinkable happened:
I fell down the stairs.
While holding LittleMiss.

She's okay though! Thank GOD!! I don't know how I fell but all I could think about was making sure she was okay and safe. Pretty sure I cried harder and longer than she did. Not from pain (although I have realized  I will have a nice bruise on my rear) but from feeling so terrible.

My big girl if fine though, she has a nice shiner but she's just fine.
I have not gone back to sleep or attempted to walk down stairs with her again.
