Free Tuesday: Baby Shower Invites

Ahhh My beauties....
*sigh of admiration*
I made these things all on my own. It is great to save a little extra money this way! The cost of the invites came down to ONLY being the cost of postage, about $11.50. (That's a guestimate I can't remember exactly how many I sent out). Making them only .46cents each.

I already had the majority of the supplies which was what really helped in cutting down the cost. So even if you do go buy the needed materials it will lower the cost of future invites/crafts.

Supplies:
  • Stamps
  • Stamp Ink
  • Printer
  • Printer Ink
  • Cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Ruler/One of those handy paper cutters
  • Extra paper for envelopes
  • Stamps
  • Pen

You're going to want to start with deciding on a font and style that you want for your invite. You can use fonts that your computer already has or download several for free.

Don't forget your stamps! The Postal Service has tons of great stamps to choose from. You can go generic or decide on some that work best for your theme!

If your computer system has a card making app, then that is very very helpful! If not simply change the layout of the template to landscape. This should turn the paper on the screen so that it is horizontal and not vertical. While this is a little trickier, it works just fine. After all that is the way I did it!

Simply type up what you want the invite to say as well at the correct font size. Once you have completed one side all you need to do is a "tab" over to the other side type or copy and paste.

Print out an example on a regular piece of printer paper, this will ensure that you have the layout you want with out wasting card stock.  If everything looks good put your card stock paper in the printer and let that baby do what it does best.

After printing has finished get your scissors or paper slicer and cut down the middle of the two invites.

Now if you have stamps that you want to use, go for it! Stamp where ever you want and like!

Once the invitations are decorated to your liking you'll get started on the envelopes.

Now depending on the size of the invite will determine the size of the paper you need for the envelope. But the great part is that you can use wrapping paper, tissue paper, or newspaper. Lay your invitation as much in the middle as possible. Fold the paper in on all four sides. Cut out the little rectangles on the corners.

Use your glue stick to glue the sides down, slip the invite in and glue the top flap down on the sides.

(this sounds ridiculous, I'll do a tutorial so you can actually SEE everything!)

Once the envelope is finished Write on the recipients address and slap on your stamp!!

I decided to add a little extra flare to my invites with a simple stamp just above the name! This is one of the stamps that I used for the invitation so it helped to tie the pieces together!
